Ubisoft, the video game giant known for iconic titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six Siege, is teaming up with Immutable to create a Web3 gaming experience. This partnership aims to harness the potential of Web3 and promises seamless integration for game developers who want to incorporate cryptographic elements into their projects.
Innovation and Digital Ownership
Ubisoft, through Nicolas Pouard, VP of the Strategic Innovation Lab, expresses excitement for this partnership with Immutable: “We are thrilled to collaborate with them and look forward to bringing this level of fluidity to a full-fledged game, so players can solely focus on the fun of the experience.”
Their goal is to enhance the gaming experience, allowing players to fully enjoy the game. On the other hand, James Ferguson, CEO and co-founder of Immutable, emphasizes the “digital ownership” that this collaboration aims to provide players.
A Mystery-Shrouded Project
The exact details of the project remain elusive. It could be a new blockchain game, an integration of Immutable into a Ubisoft game in development, or a gamified experience where players can earn NFTs. Ubisoft is no stranger to NFTs and NFT games, having already launched NFTs inspired by its Rabbids game and integrated free NFTs on Tezos for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint in 2021.
Ubisoft continues to explore the blockchain ecosystem, as evidenced by the development of a tactical RPG, Champions Tactics, on the Oasys blockchain, and its participation as a network validator for the Cronos blockchain. Additional details about this mysterious project will be revealed at a later date.
