Strategy acquires 13,390 BTC for 1.34 billion dollars

Michael Saylor shows no signs of slowing down. A week after his annual conference, Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) makes another massive Bitcoin acquisition: 13,390 BTC purchased between May 5 and May 11 for a total of 1.34 billion dollars, at an average price of 99,856 dollars per unit.

A well-crafted fundraising strategy

This colossal operation was funded through two different mechanisms: a sale of class A common stock on the market (ATM offering) and the issuance of 273,987 preferred STRK shares. In total, Strategy raised 1.31 billion dollars during this six-day window, ensuring it can continue its aggressive accumulation strategy unabated.

A Bitcoin treasury exceeding 59 billion dollars

With this latest move, the company now holds 568,840 bitcoins. At the current price, this amounts to over 59 billion dollars in digital assets. The company maintains a consolidated average purchase price of 69,287 dollars per BTC, further solidifying its position as the top Bitcoin-holding company globally.

MSTR, Strategy’s publicly traded stock, responds positively to the announcement, gaining nearly 2% in pre-market trading this Monday.

Saylor’s bet: more than just a store of value

In a landscape where Bitcoin Spot ETFs are breaking entry records, where the Ethereum Pectra update is now underway, and where macroeconomic tensions are easing, Saylor’s move is a deliberate statement: Bitcoin is set to become a global strategic reserve. For Strategy, the asset is not just a diversification tool, it is the core of the business model.
