A Strategic Revision of Token Unlock in Shrapnel
The first-person shooter game, Shrapnel, developed on Avalanche, has made a significant revision to its token distribution schedule, spreading out the allocations for its team and investors over a longer period of time.
The token unlock schedule is a crucial aspect for crypto investors as it indicates when new tokens will be available for team members, investors, etc., increasing the circulating supply and potentially influencing the price in the market.
A Strategic Revision of Token Unlock
Neon Machine, the studio behind the renowned blockchain game Shrapnel, has announced an adjustment to its SHRAP token unlock schedule in order to evenly distribute the allocations over an extended period of time.
Shrapnel has undergone a complete revision of its token unlock schedule for this first-person shooter game. Emissions from the community rewards pool and the ecosystem fund remain unchanged, but other planned unlocks in April will be reduced by nearly 75% following this readjustment.
Aaron Nonis, COO at Shrapnel, told Decrypt: ‘As the Shrapnel project matures, we now have a clearer vision of our product delivery schedule. This change aligns with the timeline of additional features as we continue to enhance the utility of the token.’
Implications of the New Schedule
With this new schedule, fewer tokens will be available in the coming months due to a non-linear structure starting with a lower unlock rate and increasing with a growing user base and increased SHRAP utility. The revisions impact the unlock schedules for the team, advisors, investors in seed and strategic raises, confirmed a representative from Shrapnel.
SHRAP, the Avalanche-based token of the Shrapnel gaming ecosystem, serves multiple functions. It acts as a reward during early access game competitions, allows players to publish their own in-game content, purchase weapon skins and other user-created content, and participate in community voting.
The Promising Early Access Game
Shrapnel recently launched its early access game on PC via the Epic Games Store, offering a playable version of the extraction-focused multiplayer shooter that is gradually being developed and improved. The team is supporting the early access launch with millions of dollars worth of SHRAP allocated for weekly competitions.
