Revolut Adds Meme Coin Bonk to Crypto Trading Offer, Following the Example of Coinbase and Binance
The European fintech company Revolut plans to list Bonk, the largest meme coin on Solana, and launch a $1.2 million educational campaign to encourage its users to learn about this cryptocurrency. This initiative aims to integrate Bonk into mainstream crypto trading platforms, following an impressive 20,000% price increase since November 1st, 2023. Leading platforms such as Coinbase and Binance have already listed the token.
Detailed Overview of the “Learn” Campaign
Revolut’s “Learn” campaign will distribute up to 93 billion BONK tokens to users, subject to approval from the BONK governance council, which manages a treasury of over $100 million in BONK tokens. Currently, the approval vote is on track, with six out of the twelve council members voting in favor without opposition. The aim of this campaign is to expand Bonk’s user base by 500,000 people.
The Context and Objectives of Bonk
Bonk was launched by Solana blockchain enthusiasts following the collapse of FTX in November 2022, with the goal of bringing some joy to the affected ecosystem. Since then, it has become the largest meme coin on Solana, used by many applications built on Solana as an incentive mechanism. Revolut also plans to reward its users who learn about BONK through the app.
By distributing BONK as a reward for learning, Revolut hopes to not only increase Bonk’s user base but also encourage a more informed and engaged approach to crypto investing among its clients.
