Lighter Launches LIT Token with Airdrop & Operational Insights

Lighter delves into the heart of the matter. The specialized DEX for perpetual contracts has officially launched its native token, the Lighter Infrastructure Token (LIT), accompanied by an airdrop representing 25% of the total supply.

Lighter’s LIT Token is Finally Launched via an Airdrop

To check your eligibility for the airdrop, simply visit the Lighter platform. If you have accumulated points, the LIT tokens will already be in your wallet.

Lighter positions itself as an execution and data layer designed to bridge traditional markets and decentralized finance. The launch of LIT fits into this logic. The token is not presented merely as a governance tool but as a central element of the platform’s economic and technical operation.

The total LIT supply is divided as follows: 50% allocated to the ecosystem, 50% to the team and investors. Regarding the ecosystem share, half was distributed immediately via an airdrop, converting 12.5 million points accumulated by early users into LIT tokens.

After a volatile start, LIT is trading around $3, for a fully diluted valuation close to $3 billion.

Vesting Announced for Team and Investors

For the non-circulating supply, Lighter has chosen a classic unlocking schedule. Team shares (26%) and investor shares (24%) are subject to a 1-year lock-up period, followed by a linear 3-year vesting. A signal aimed at reassuring the market about the absence of immediate selling pressure, in a context where token launches are increasingly scrutinized.

It is also worth noting that the token is issued directly by the company operating Lighter, a C-Corporation registered in the United States, a point that could influence upcoming regulatory discussions.

Lighter Announces LIT Buybacks, Without Specifics

LIT plays an operational role in the Lighter ecosystem. The token is used for trade execution, market data verification, and staking. The more an actor wants to access advanced services, the higher the amount of LIT to be staked. These requirements are expected to increase with the network’s progressive decentralization.

Users and data providers also pay fees in LIT to access prices and validation mechanisms. Staking acts as an economic guarantee, aiming to ensure the reliability of data used for trading and risk management.

The team emphasizes total transparency on revenues, entirely traceable onchain. These revenues can be reinvested in the ecosystem or used for token buybacks, without a predefined schedule. A deliberate flexibility that allows the market to judge, over time, the real economic discipline of the project. Not buybacks with 100% of revenues, but a functioning ‘according to the market’.
