The Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI), formed by SingularityNET, Fetch.ai, and Ocean Protocol, may welcome Cudos, a provider of decentralized computing.
The addition of Cudos would strengthen the decentralized computing capabilities of ASI, reducing reliance on centralized services like Amazon Web Services through its decentralized cloud infrastructure.
A community vote will take place from September 19 to 24 to introduce Cudos to the ASI ecosystem.
Cudos Integration: A Step Forward for Decentralized Computing?
The addition of Cudos to the ASI Alliance represents an opportunity to enhance the decentralized computing capabilities of the group. With its decentralized cloud network, Cudos provides advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) that could significantly increase the computational power needed to process AI algorithms. This enhanced capacity would allow the Alliance to reduce its dependence on centralized providers like Amazon Web Services, aligning with ASI’s ambition to promote a decentralized cloud infrastructure.
A Transition towards a Decentralized Model
The central argument of the ASI Alliance is based on the advantages of decentralization, including security, resilience, and scalability. Humayun Sheikh, President of the ASI Alliance and CEO of Fetch.ai, stated that “decentralized computing is superior to centralized computing,” emphasizing that it offers better protection against attacks while facilitating access to advanced technologies for a greater diversity of users. According to him, the global distribution of resources eliminates bottlenecks, enhances data security, and fosters innovation.
In this context, the transition from the FET token to ASI is seen as a necessary step to ensure better integration of decentralized technologies. Sheikh pointed out that progress is expected in the coming months regarding this transition, which should further strengthen cohesion within the Alliance.
Exchanges’ Attitude towards the ASI Migration
The token migration remains a central issue for the ASI Alliance, particularly concerning the transition from Ocean Protocol tokens to FET, which took place last July. However, not all industry players have followed this transition. Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchange platforms, has decided not to support the automatic migration of Ocean tokens to FET. This decision has been interpreted by some as a form of resistance from a centralized entity against decentralized developments.
However, other centralized exchanges like Binance, Crypto.com, and KuCoin have supported this migration.
