Cristiano Ronaldo organizes a football game with holders of his NFTs:
Cristiano Ronaldo, in partnership with Binance, played football with holders of his NFT collection.
A lawsuit has been filed against Ronaldo in the United States for alleged promotion of investments in unregistered securities.
Despite the lawsuit, Binance users are having difficulties notifying Ronaldo, who resides in Saudi Arabia.
In 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo signed a multi-year partnership with Binance to launch his first NFT collection. This collaboration aimed to create a series of NFT collections with Ronaldo, offering holders exclusive opportunities to interact with the football star.
Yesterday, a video was published on Binance’s YouTube channel showing Ronaldo playing football with fans and holders of his NFTs, alongside Khaby Lame and Croatian footballer Maria Marković. Ronaldo shared his passion for NFTs, stating his desire to offer unique experiences to his fans through this technology.
Despite his enthusiastic involvement in the world of NFTs, Ronaldo faces legal challenges. In November 2023, a lawsuit was filed against him in a U.S. District Court in Florida.
The plaintiffs accuse Ronaldo of actively participating in the sale of unregistered securities in coordination with Binance. This situation raises questions about the nature of NFTs as investments and the role of celebrities in promoting these products.
“Ronaldo’s promotions solicited or aided Binance in soliciting investments in unregistered securities by encouraging his millions of followers, fans, and supporters to invest with the Binance platform.” – according to the lawsuit filed in November 2023
Efforts to notify Ronaldo of this lawsuit are met with obstacles, particularly due to the privacy of his address in Saudi Arabia.
