Stripe and Bitstamp Partner to Simplify Cryptocurrency Purchases in Europe
Leading payment processor Stripe and cryptocurrency exchange platform Bitstamp have announced a partnership to facilitate cryptocurrency purchases in Europe.
The collaboration aims to streamline fiat-to-crypto conversions for European Union users by integrating an easily accessible conversion gateway.
Fully Customizable Widget Features
Stripe has developed a customizable widget that developers can directly integrate into their products. This widget not only enables the conversion of fiat currencies into cryptocurrencies but also allows for instant settlement of transactions. Currently, the widget supports several cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and USDC. However, according to the press release from both companies, this feature will not be available to customers in the United Kingdom.
The Role of Bitstamp and Acquisition by Robinhood
Bitstamp plays a crucial role in this partnership by managing fiat-to-crypto conversions and transfers to consumers. This initiative is part of their expansion of the ‘Bitstamp-as-a-service’ product, a white-label version of their crypto trading services targeting banks and fintechs.
On June 6th, popular trading firm Robinhood announced its intention to acquire Bitstamp for $200 million in cash. This acquisition aims to extend Robinhood’s reach beyond the United States and compete with other leading trading platforms like Coinbase.
