The renowned game engine Unity recently unveiled an update to its terms of service that has caused quite a stir within the global community of game creators. This update includes the introduction of installation fees, where developers will be required to pay fees for each game installation starting from January 1, 2024, a measure that even applies retroactively to games already released before this date. This new approach seems to threaten the financial viability of many studios, particularly because it also applies to free games, charity bundles, and demos.
