Terra founder Do Kwon to be extradited to South Korea after prison sentence.
Do Kwon, founder of Terraform Labs, will face justice in his native country, South Korea, following a decision by the supreme court of Montenegro. This extradition comes after allegations related to the collapse of his cryptocurrency company, Terra, in May 2022.
A crucial judicial decision in Montenegro
On Thursday, the high court of Montenegro made a crucial decision approving the extradition of Do Kwon to South Korea, where he is accused of playing a key role in the collapse of his massive crypto ecosystem, Terra. Kwon’s lawyer stated that his client would be extradited after March 23, when he will have completed a four-month sentence for possession of forged documents.
Since the collapse of Terra in May 2022, Do Kwon has managed to evade South Korean authorities until his arrest in Montenegro last year, while attempting to travel with forged documents. Kwon was arrested alongside former Terra executive Han Chang-joon, who has already been extradited to South Korea in February.
Between two extradition requests: What’s next for Do Kwon?
Both the United States and South Korea had requested his extradition. In the United States, Do Kwon faces a trial for fraud. However, the decision of the high court of Montenegro points Do Kwon towards South Korea, where he will face criminal charges related to the dramatic fall of Terra.
Goran Rodic, Do Kwon’s Montenegrin lawyer, clarified that his client will remain in Montenegro until the completion of his current sentence, before being finally sent to South Korea.
The decision is in line with the evidence contained in the case files.

While Do Kwon has managed to challenge several decisions regarding his extradition to the United States, it remains to be seen if he will appeal this latest decision.
