Developer OtherWorld Launches NFT Platform for Solo Leveling Webtoon on Custom Layer 1 built with Avalanche Technology

Singapore-based web3 developer OtherWorld has announced the beta launch of ‘Solo Leveling: Unlimited’, an NFT platform based on the popular South Korean webtoon Solo Leveling.

This platform will be deployed on a custom layer 1 using Avalanche blockchain technology.

OtherWorld is using a custom layer 1 network built on Avalanche technology for this new platform, enabling gas-free NFT transactions. This innovation aims to provide a smooth and cost-effective user experience.

The platform will also serve as a stepping stone for future web3 initiatives integrating webtoon and K-pop intellectual properties (IP).

‘It’s truly exciting to see a popular series like Solo Leveling expand and offer an immersive gamified experience to its fans worldwide by leveraging blockchain technology. It’s an encouraging sign of what is possible and what is to come when mainstream cultural icons, fandom, and cutting-edge technology converge,’ said Justin Kim, Head of Korea at Ava Labs.

Features and User Experience

Users of ‘Solo Leveling: Unlimited’ will be able to dive into the captivating webtoon universe, following the original story by battling monsters and collecting cards to progress their characters.

Those who own high-level monster cards will receive various rewards, including PFP (profile picture) NFTs representing the main protagonist of Solo Leveling.

The Success of Solo Leveling

Solo Leveling, originally published in 2016, has accumulated over 14 billion views worldwide, encompassing a web novel, webtoon, anime, and mobile game. This immense popularity makes Solo Leveling a leading franchise, attracting a wide audience and dedicated fan base.

OtherWorld has revealed that it holds exclusive rights to 26 successful webtoon IPs and can utilize K-pop IPs through a collaboration with major agency Cube Entertainment. This synergy between popular webtoons and K-pop stars opens up new possibilities for integrating Asian pop culture into the web3 ecosystem.
