Kristina Campbell Joins Maven Clinic After Departing Ripple
Kristina Campbell, formerly the Chief Financial Officer of Ripple, has joined Maven Clinic, a provider of virtual healthcare services. Campbell’s tenure at Ripple spanned over two years, ending in October. Her LinkedIn profile indicated her departure, reflecting on a “memorable” journey with the crypto company. Prior to joining Ripple in April 2021, Campbell held the role of CFO at the digital payment platform, PayNearMe, for a notable duration of four years. While expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Campbell noted:
Healthcare, although analogous to fintech in its complex and regulated nature, represents a new chapter for me.
The Context of SEC vs Ripple
The context of Ripple depicts a legal battle with the SEC, primarily centered around its sales of XRP tokens. A major judgment in July dismissed the classification of XRP as a security for retail investors. This judgment remained steadfast even after an appeal by the SEC in October. The legal face-off between Ripple and the SEC is scheduled for April 2024, a year also marked by other high-profile crypto-focused lawsuits.
Uncertainty looms over whether Campbell’s decision to leave Ripple was influenced by ongoing regulatory pressures in the United States. Adding to that, Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, recently discussed the challenging regulatory landscape in the US, advising startups to proceed with caution.
