HyperLiquid’s Layer 1 to Support Native EVM, Enhancing its Decentralized Trading Platform
The leading decentralized exchange (DEX) for perpetual futures contracts, HyperLiquid, announces that its layer 1 will now support the Native Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
What is HyperLiquid?
HyperLiquid is a DEX specializing in perpetual futures contracts that operates on its own blockchain, designed to process up to 20,000 orders per second with sub-second block latency using Tendermint for consensus mechanisms. It stands out by offering functionalities comparable to centralized exchanges while operating entirely on-chain, ensuring transparency and security for all operations.
The Integration of EVM: A Turning Point for HyperLiquid’s Layer 1
The integration of the EVM into HyperLiquid’s layer 1 marks a significant step forward in diversifying the platform’s supported applications. Previously focused on high-frequency operations like perpetual trading, this update will enable support for a wider range of applications that do not require extreme optimization, such as bridges, auctions, lending, and other user innovations.
This integration is not an isolated feature but rather an integral part of the layer 1 infrastructure expansion strategy. By redirecting high-throughput transactions to performant native components, HyperLiquid ensures sufficient block space for the extensive array of secondary applications while enhancing liquidity.
With HyperBFT and the EVM, we are building something truly unique in this field. All without ever raising any external capital or paying any market maker to join us.

Example of EVM Composability and Future Developments
A concrete example of this composability is the interaction between HyperLiquid’s HIP-1 assets and their corresponding ERC-20 contracts. This functionality allows for atomic transfers between these assets, facilitating the launch and exchange of tokens on HyperLiquid.
Developers can deploy smart contracts using familiar EVM tools and instantly tap into the CEX-like trading experience loved by users.
HyperLiquid has not provided an exact implementation date, but the testnet launch is planned for the coming months.
