Google Opens the Door to Cryptocurrency Advertising
Google has recently updated its advertising policy regarding cryptocurrencies, now allowing advertisements for American cryptocurrency trusts starting from the end of January 2024.
“We expect all advertisers to comply with local laws for any area targeted by their ads. This policy will apply globally to all accounts advertising these products.” – Google
This change coincides with the anticipated approval of Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) in the United States.
These cryptocurrency trusts are described as financial products that offer investors the opportunity to trade shares in trusts holding significant pools of digital currency, potentially including ETFs.
Conditions for Publishing Crypto Ads
In order to publish advertisements for cryptocurrency trusts, advertisers must be certified by Google. This certification involves obtaining the appropriate license from the relevant local authority and ensuring that products, landing pages, and ads comply with local legal requirements.
While Google already allows advertising for certain cryptocurrency products, it excludes ads related to various sectors such as crypto gaming platforms, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), initial coin offerings (ICOs), decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, and services offering trading signals (trading bots).
