FBI Conducts Mysterious Search on Home of Former FTX Executive Ryan Salame

Unnamed sources have reported that the home of Ryan Salame, former co-chief executive of FTX Digital Markets, was searched by the FBI on Thursday. Salame had donated over $22 million to political campaigns during the 2022 US election cycle, making him a prominent political donor.

According to court documents, Salame was a key figure at FTX and informed regulators in the Bahamas that the company was misusing customer funds just days before its collapse. The raid was disclosed by two individuals with knowledge of the situation, as noted by reporters from the New York Times.

The reason for Thursday’s search is unknown, leaving the motive behind the search a matter of speculation. Salame’s $4 million home in Potomac, Maryland was searched at 7 a.m. Eastern Time, and sources forwarded snapshots of FBI agents stationed outside Salame’s residence during the operation.

Salame has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing or faced any charges. It is uncertain what the investment objective was for FTX Ventures Ltd., a subsidiary of FTX in which Salame was involved, which invested $25 million in 80 Acres Farms, an Ohio-based vertical farming company.

The FBI has refused to comment on the matter, and Salame and his legal representative have yet to release a statement.
