Exaion, a subsidiary of the French energy company EDF, has recently become a validator on Cronos, the blockchain network developed by the exchange platform Crypto.com.

Exaion is focused on digitizing industries to enhance data center energy efficiency. By becoming a validator on Cronos, Exaion joins a pool of 32 validators on Cronos’ open-source EVM protocol. Cronos’ EVM protocol is interoperable with Ethereum and Cosmos networks, utilizing a proof-of-authority consensus mechanism.
Validators play a vital role in upholding the operation and security of a blockchain network, enabling smart contracts and verifying transactions by running a node. In return for their services, validators receive income. The EVM, which executes smart contracts, powers the Ethereum protocol akin to a computer’s operating system.
