Just a few months ago, Justin Sun was facing an investigation by the Department of Justice and a civil fraud complaint by the SEC. Today, he raises a glass with the president over the $TRUMP token, while celebrating the suspension of the SEC’s investigation against him. A drastic change in the climate, as the new administration sends pro-crypto signals and even considers an ETF on Tron.
This regulatory shift came shortly after an investment of millions of dollars by Sun and Tron in another crypto project by Trump, World Liberty, which raises questions.
Sun does not hide his satisfaction: according to him, Trump made “one of the best decisions of his presidency” by supporting the crypto ecosystem. He dismisses criticisms of the memecoin as “short-sighted” and “misinformed“, brushing aside accusations of corruption or electoral manipulation.

Facing critics like Dave Portnoy, who compares memecoins to “gambling” or even a “Ponzi scheme” without a derogatory judgment, Sun points to the successes of DOGE and SHIB. For him, memecoins are a powerful gateway to crypto for millions of new users.
Towards an American reconquest of Web3
The dinner with Trump also marked a political turning point: according to Sun, several guests had considered leaving the United States for more welcoming jurisdictions like Hong Kong or Singapore. “But now, they stay. It’s a strong signal that America is back in the race“, he asserts.
