Ondo Finance Joins Mastercard’s Multi-Token Network to Facilitate Digital Asset Investments

Ondo Finance joins Mastercard’s Multi-Token Network

Ondo Finance, a major player in the tokenization of real assets (RWA), is partnering with Mastercard by integrating its Multi-Token Network (MTN). This collaboration aims to facilitate businesses’ access to digital asset investments, particularly through Ondo Finance’s Short-Term U.S. Government Treasuries Fund (OUSG). Now, companies using the Mastercard network can directly invest in tokenized assets that offer attractive yields.

An easy access to U.S. government bonds via blockchain

The OUSG product is primarily based on the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL), currently the largest blockchain-based money market fund. It is backed by short-term U.S. government bonds, providing exposure to Treasury yields while benefiting from the advantages of tokenization. With this infrastructure, businesses can invest in assets traditionally reserved for financial institutions with more flexibility and efficiency.

Mastercard accelerates the adoption of blockchain technologies

With its MTN network, Mastercard is not simply observing the revolution of digital assets, but actively participating in it. By integrating blockchain tools based on APIs, the company enables banks to optimize their domestic and international transactions, thereby reducing the time and costs associated with cross-border payments. This initiative reflects a growing trend among traditional financial giants to embrace Web3 technologies without requiring specific crypto infrastructure.

Towards wider adoption of digital assets in traditional finance

The integration of Ondo Finance within the Mastercard network illustrates the rapid evolution of the financial sector towards the convergence of traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi). Instead of creating their own blockchain solutions, many institutions choose to rely on existing and secure infrastructures. This approach could accelerate the adoption of digital assets while reducing regulatory and technical barriers.
