In a meeting with European security officials in Brussels, Secretary Blinken announced that the Biden administration is making efforts to provide Ukraine with maximum military aid while still possible. This initiative comes as Trump’s inauguration in January approaches. Trump has promised to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict and has expressed skepticism about the amount of American aid given to Kyiv.
President Biden is determined to ensure that every available dollar is delivered by January 20.
Since the invasion began in February 2022, the administration has already spent over $174 billion in military and financial aid to Ukraine, according to the Government Accountability Office.

During the Brussels conference, Blinken emphasized the goal of his trip, stating, “We are focusing our efforts on ensuring that Ukraine has the money, ammunition, and forces necessary to effectively fight in 2025 or negotiate peace from a position of strength.”

President Zelensky, aware of the implications of the leadership change in Washington, was one of the first leaders to congratulate Trump on his victory. He tweeted about an “excellent conversation” and their shared commitment to “maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation.” The Kremlin, on the other hand, was slow to react but eventually referred to Trump as a “courageous man” whose proposals to restore US-Russian relations and resolve the Ukrainian crisis deserved attention, according to Putin.
Speculation is rampant about how President Trump will fulfill his promise to end the war. Some analysts anticipate a major strategic realignment, while others fear a withdrawal of American support that could weaken Kyiv’s position. In the meantime, the Biden administration is intensifying its efforts, seeking to maximize support before the transition to the new administration in January.
