zkSync, the new leader in transaction volume
zkSync, a layer 2 solution on Ethereum, has recently reached a new milestone by processing a transaction volume greater than that of the main network (layer 1): Ethereum. Over a 30-day period, zkSync has handled 34.7 million transactions, slightly surpassing Ethereum’s 34.2 million transactions.
This remarkable performance places zkSync ahead of other layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum, which recorded 31.4 million transactions during the same period.
The rise of registrations propels zkSync
As you may have guessed, the recent increase in transaction volume on zkSync is mainly attributed to the growing popularity of registrations. Simply put, these registrations enable the creation of ‘alternative tokens’ and NFTs, similar to Oracles on Bitcoin.
Therefore, it is primarily through these registrations, introduced since mid-December, that activity on zkSync has seen a significant increase, making a major contribution to its overall transaction volume.
